The SHARE Center offers a number of services that help people overcome crises by meeting basic needs, removing barriers, and stabilizing income and housing.
Meeting basic needs is the foundation for recovery regardless of where people are at in that process. It not just the basis of survival, it also translates into better work and school performance. These resources allow individuals and families to focus more of their money on securing and maintaining housing or meeting other needs and can be a lifeline for struggling households.
Many homeless and near homeless people have significant barriers that are keeping them trapped in poverty. Along with mental health and addiction issues, lack of transportation, IDs and vital records, childcare, access to showers and laundry facilities, and a place to keep your belongings safe are significant obstacles towards achieving and maintaining stability. The SHARE Center has resources and dedicated staff who can help people overcome these challenges.
As we work with clients to meet basic needs and remove barriers, we also work with them to find appropriate employment opportunities or maximize their benefits if they cannot work. We work with our community partners such as Neighborhoods Inc., the Battle Creek Housing Commission, and the Homeless Coalition of Calhoun Co. to find affordable housing options.
